Continuing on with the HomeWork series based upon the "10 reasons" why Americans are fat.
We move on to #5.
Medications.
Well....
How do we give HomeWork around changing your dependence on medications without getting into dangerous territory of giving specific medical information....?
Oh! Wait...
Here it is.
Over the next 7 days, anytime that you have available, watch the movie "Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead".
In this movie is a profile of a couple people who were able to decrease their need for medication by making lifestyle changes. Not that you should specifically do what they did in the movie, but it is a bit of an eye-opener that you someone can change their medications of their own lifestyle chooses!
Have fun,
MRoss

Bigger Plates.
Who decides how big your portion should be?
The chef at Buddha Ruksa? The corporate nobodies at Applebees? Or Starbucks? Or Safeway?
This HomeWork is, for the next 7 to 10 days, to leave about 10% of your meal on your plate at all feedings. That's right, either throw it away into the compost, or put it back into the bowl/container. But whatever you do, don't eat it!
It is funny that we eat all of what we are given when we go out or open a packaged sort of food.
We have all done it, and I suggest this contributes to our altered perception of how much to eat at each sitting/meal. Even when we dish it up ourselves. We have gotten mildly to seriously out of touch with our own nutrtitional needs that it carries over into our own food prep.
Have fun,
MRoss
Baby... I'm cold.... - HomeWork #3 - 2012
Continuing on with the HomeWork series based upon the "10 reasons" why Americans are fat.
We move on to #3.
Air Conditioning:
(sort of...)
Basically this talks about the reduced time that people spend out of doors!
So, this HomeWork is to "take a walk".
For the next 7 to 10 days, every evening (rain or shine or snow or sleet or crummy weather) after "dinner" we will take a 15 minute walk. 7.5 minutes out and back.
Slow or fast, but please walk and not run. This will include any members of your family that you can drag along.
Have Fun,
MRoss
*(7 to 10 days means that if 7 days of this seems impossible, then you need to get out there for all 10 days. If you already do some sort of this or 10 days seems easy squeezy, then you should be just fine with 7 days)

Continuing on with the HomeWork series based upon the "10 reasons" why Americans are fat.
We move on to #2.
Sleep:
Or lack thereof...
Do you get 8 hours? "They" say that some of us don't need 8 hours per night. I say, what could it hurt?
So for the next 7 to 10 days, every night you must get 8 hours of sleep. (at least...)
This may be one of the most challenging HomeWorks ever! Especially with the limitations and requirements of a busy life. However, do your best to give it a try for 7 to 10 days.
Have Fun
MRoss
*(7 to 10 days means depending on your own perception of how much sleep you need and/or actually get. If 7 days seems impossible, then you should do this for 10 days. If 10 days seems like a breeze, then you are probably okay with focusing on 7 days.)
